There are several types of skin diseases, from simple irritation to a more serious situation. There are also some that are little recognized as diseases, which are the causes of stretch marks and cellulite, which are inevitable.
The skin is the largest organ in the human body and consists of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis. The skin isolates the human organism from the organic components of the external environment, in addition to regulating body temperature.
Because it covers the entire human body, the skin is more vulnerable to injury and disease. Some skin blemishes may not be very serious, but they can also hide the development of more serious injuries.
Considering that the prevention and treatment of skin diseases are extremely important, we have brought some more common types:
What are the most common types?
There are thousands of skin diseases - those that attack only a certain point up to those that take up the full extent of the body. We have listed down some that are very common today, among them:
Acne
One of the most common skin diseases, acne is caused by pore obstruction in response to inflammation of the sebaceous glands, which in this case end up producing excess skin sebum. When the pores become clogged with dead cells and keratin, carnations, and other symptoms such as pimples, pustules, and cysts appear.
It is considered a chronic disease and not just a going through change and limited to adolescence. Although it is more frequent in this phase, it can also manifest in adults, in different phases, and for different reasons. In adolescents, this disease is more common because it is at this stage that the production of hormones is greatest.
Eight out of ten people have had pimples at some point in their lives. When the condition progresses, it ceases to be an aesthetic nuisance, which can result in pain, emotional shock, and social barriers. The sooner treatment begins, the less likely you are to suffer from these consequences.
Chickenpox
chickenpox is considered an infectious disease, caused by the Varicella-Zoster virus - very contagious, but mostly benign. It usually manifests itself more frequently in children, especially between the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
One of its most striking features is the presence of polymorphism of skin lesions in the skin. This can present itself in several evolutionary forms - which accompanies a strong itching. Although in children it is benign, in adults and adolescents the four can be abundant.
However, once the virus is acquired, the person becomes immune to chickenpox. However, the virus remains in our body throughout life and can be revived - thus causing herpes.
Despite different names, chickenpox is the same as chickenpox and vice versa. Here we have the presence of a relationship of meaning between two words with similar meaning.
Dermatitis
Dermatitis is one of the skin diseases that involve a combination of irritation, allergy, and vein stasis. The type of this condition is usually determined based on the clinical history and location of the erythema. Allergic contact may occur due to brief exposure to substances to which the person is allergic.
Like eczema, dermatitis is an allergic reaction of the skin that generates redness, itching, blistering, and can reach any part of the body. It can appear at any age, for various reasons, whether genetic, emotional, such as stress, or triggered by external agents (e.g. cold weather and skin oiliness).
Urticaria
Nettle rash is a disease caused by nettle - most of the time. When the plant touches the skin, it releases substances quickly, causing a certain burning, which soon after can cause: redness in the affected area, swelling, itching, burning, and lifting the skin by up to 1cm.
It may or may not appear with angioedema - characterized by a swelling that reaches the deeper layers of the skin - on the lips or tongue. Generally, they only appear when the urticaria is chronic.
It has a rapid disappearance, lasting about 24 hours - in some cases, it may disappear and reappear elsewhere in the body. When it lasts less than six weeks, we classify it as acute; after this period, they are considered chronic.
When it is a serious case, which can mix the nettle reaction on the skin and other body problems, nettle rash can also cause difficulty in breathing, stomach pains, tightness in the chest and throat area, and swelling in the tongue and lips.
Melasma
It is characterized by dark spots on the skin that appear on the face, arms, and neck, especially in women. The spots are benign and do not pose any health risks.
The disease does not have a defined cause, but the condition is often related to the use of female contraceptives, pregnancy, genetic disposition, and, mainly, to sun exposure.
Prevention for melasma is sun protection with the use of natural sunscreens daily and reapplication during the day, even on cloudy or rainy days. The common sunscreen does not fully protect people with melasma and the use of a cap, sunglasses, and parasols is also indicated for the protection of the sun's rays.
Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory vascular disease, with attenuations and irritations. It occurs mainly in adults and most often in women. When affected in men it tends to be more serious, evolving continuously.
The disease does not have a specific origin. There is a great genetic predisposition in some people, in addition to a strong influence of psychological factors. Rosacea is characterized by sensitive skin, usually drier, reddish, and easily irritated by acids and dermatological products. Affecting mainly the central region of the face.
It is important to find out when and how the problem started, as well as personal and family factors, psychological factors, alcoholism, exposure to light. With general control of these factors, effective rosacea monitoring can be achieved.
Beach ringworm or white cloth
Pityriasis Versicolor, known as beach ringworm or white cloth, is a skin disease caused by fungi that consume the keratin of the skin, hair, and nails generating excessive growth of yeasts on the skin.
Symptoms include patches of skin that are lighter or darker than the surrounding skin, usually on the torso and shoulders, and are not contagious. The signs can manifest through internal or external factors, such as heat, humidity, and excessive sweating.
The best way to prevent this disease is to maintain a good hygiene routine, avoid using too oily creams in regions that are already oily. Keep your skin ventilated and use a sunscreen with a dry touch.
If you are suffering from any of these skin diseases then it is time to consult with a doctor. You can reduce the risk of skin diseases by using natural beauty care products that do not contain any harmful chemicals for the skin.
